CCI keeps a separate space for licensed professionals who want to earn continuing education toward their degree — and for our own coaches, who complete a set amount of continuing education every two years to renew their certification. The courses are practical, evidence-grounded, and drawn from the work itself.
Approved for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and LEPs earning CE toward their license.
Coaches complete continuing education with us every two years to keep their certification current.
Anyone who wants to learn directly from Carolyn, whether or not you hold a license.
Our continuing-education courses for licensed professionals carry the approvals below. These approvals apply to the CE courses only. They have nothing to do with coach certification — CCI's coaching program is not accredited, and a CCI certificate signifies completion of rigorous CCI training, not a state or national license.
Community Counseling for Individuals and Families, Inc., has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 6849.
These approvals cover our continuing-education courses for licensed professionals. They do not certify, accredit, or endorse the coach-certification program.
For podcast listeners we offer a free course — Part 1 of How vs Why — where you'll watch Carolyn teach the strategies she uses to help clients make the behavior changes that lead to recovery. It's not just for clinicians; it's for anyone who hears the podcast and wants to learn. This free version is the teaching itself — it does not include CE credit or a certificate of completion.
A specific strategy you can use right away to help someone make a real behavior change.
How to use rewards and consequences thoughtfully with the people you work with.
Why so much of recovery lives in the how — and how to stop getting stuck in the why.

Free, online, and self-paced. The free listener version is content only — no CE credit and no certificate are issued.
Part 1 of How vs Why is also offered as a fully accredited continuing-education course. The free listener version gives you Carolyn's teaching; the accredited version adds the CE contact hours and a certificate of completion — the part licensed professionals and renewing coaches need for their boards.
Licensing boards update their requirements often. We do our best to stay current, but we recommend confirming with your board that this course meets its specific approval.
How vs Why is one of several continuing-education courses Carolyn offers. Almost all are taught by her, grounded in evidence and decades of practice, and built to be practical enough to use with your very next client. Browse the full catalog and enroll on the CCI learning platform.
